Provider Survey Snapshots

In June 2020, the Clinical Core conducted a statewide medical marijuana (MMJ) provider survey.

The survey aimed to understand research priorities and training needs for MMJ research from physicians certifying medical marijuana in the state of Florida.

The following snapshots are approximated to protect participants’ privacy and include demographics, medical practice & experience, MMJ education & training, and MMJ research priorities.

Demographics

Physicians were asked questions about general demographics including geographical location, age, gender, and more.

Geographical Distribution

This map reflects the geographical distribution of physicians who completed the Provider Survey.

Areas with a robust clinic and dispensary presence will have a greater presence of physicians certifying medical marijuana.

Please note: any gender identity with less than 10 participants has been removed to protect participants’ privacy.

Age

This graph represents the age at time of survey submission of physicians.

Horizontal bar graph showing age distribution with teal bars. The age ranges are displayed from bottom to top: 30-39 (shortest bar), 40-49 (medium length), 50-59 (longest bar), 60-69 (second longest), and 70+ (medium length). The graph indicates that the 50-59 age group has the highest representation, followed by the 60-69 age group.

Please note: participants were able to select medical specialties with no limit on selection totals. The percentages were calculated by the number of physicians that selected a specialty divided by the total number of physicians.

Type of Practice

This graph represents the type of practice self-reported by physicians.

Bar graph comparing two categories: a taller dark blue bar labeled 'MMJ & Traditional Medicine' on the left and a shorter teal bar labeled 'MMJ Only' on the right. The graph suggests more people use a combination of medical marijuana and traditional medicine than medical marijuana alone.
